PROFILE

BINUS University established Hotel Management and Hospitality and Tourism Management study programs in 2008. Hotel Management is the Diploma  IV program and Hospitality & Tourism Management is the Bachelor degree program in which students will graduate with two degrees, conferred by BINUS International and its overseas affiliate, La Trobe University, Australia, Cologne Business School Germany, or Bournemouth University, UK. (IHTTI Swiss Hotel School-Swiss Education Group: MOU will be signed in Feb 2010)

These career-oriented program are based on international curricula and syllabi that combine a high level of management practical skills and theoretical knowledge in hotel/ hospitality and tourism in order that students will be well prepared for careers in the global hospitality and tourism business community. The specialized courses adopt a practical approach in the teaching and are delivered in English.

Our facilities are all based on star rated hotels of an international standard and our programs are also supported by Industry Advisory Council, chaired by Mr. Jim Hogan, former CEO of South Australia Tourism. The members consist of hospitality and tourism experts from PATA Indonesia  (Mr. Alistair Speirs), Indonesia Hotels and Restaurants Association (Mrs. Carla Parengkuan), JIHA (Jakarta International Hotel Association) (Mr. Darren Earle) and Mr. William Wongso (Culinary Expert). The Industry Advisory Council advises the university on standards on all issues related to ensuring industry standards are adhered to.

The teaching and learning facilities include front office laboratory (equipped with OPERA software system), housekeeping lab, Mock up room "Deluxe" sponsored by JW Marriott, restaurant and bar (equipped with Micros RES4), kitchen and pastry. We also receive academic support from ECOLAB.

Part of the learning process is an internship program that must be taken by a student two times during their four years of study, each for 6 months.
