UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS

Following the recent outbreak of the new coronavirus that began in the Chinese city of Wuhan and with more than 4,500 confirmed cases reported, all members and industry stakeholders have good cause for concern. At PATA, we are closely monitoring the situation and we suggest that all industry stakeholders do the same. We encourage you to make sure to get your information from reputable sources such as the World Health Organization (WHO) website, rather than on social media or other unreliable sources.

The current situation is dynamic and constantly evolving, and we encourage everybody to remain calm but stay vigilant and take proper precautions as necessary, such as the use a face mask when travelling and the frequent washing of hands. If travelling, it is advised to visit your country’s respective travel advisory websites.

The PATA Adventure Travel Conference and Mart 2020 in Sabah, Malaysia from February 12-14 is still on track and we will keep you informed if there are any further developments.

The situation in Malaysia is under control by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia following guidelines by WHO, who have ranked Malaysia 3rd in the world for best preparation of illness. The government is doing its best on all measurements at entry points into Malaysia. As of today, all entry points into Malaysia have been equipped with the thermal scanners to check on the body temperature of every tourists who enters the country. This include Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) where most delegates will arrive. Malaysia is still a safe country to visit, and we look forward to welcoming all delegates to the event.
