OVERVIEW

Welcome to Macau, ‘A World of Difference, the Difference is Macau'

The city of Macau is more ready than ever to welcome PTM2010 delegates to experience Macau through the five senses "See Macau, Taste Macau, Touch Macau, Feel Macau and Hear Macau'.

In 2008, the city hosted a record-breaking number of over 22.9 million visitors and the Macau Government is continuing its investment in the development of business tourism and the MICE industry.

Macau's rich history has created a unique society, with influence from the East and West complementing each other.  Since December 1999, Macau has been a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and, like Hong Kong, benefits from the principle of "one country, two systems".  The tiny SAR is growing in size, with more buildings on reclaimed land and in the number and diversity of its attractions.

Located on the southeast coast of China and bordering on Guangdong Province, Macau SAR is located 60km from Hong Kong and 145km from the city of Guangzhou.

Macau can be accessed easily by:

By Air: Macau International Airport is located on Taipa Island, which is only a ten-minute drive to the peninsula via the Macau-Taipa Bridge.  The airport is home to some 20 airlines that connect Macau to major cities in China (PRC), Chinese Taipei, Korea and many countries in Southeast Asia. For detailed information on flight schedules, please visit www.macau-airport.com

By Sea: There are several points providing ferry services from Hong Kong to Macau, including a direct trip from Hong Kong International Airport that bypasses Hong Kong immigration and transfers directly to the Skypier for a TurboJET to Macau.  From Hong Kong Island, ferries operate 24 hours a day.

Tourists can find quite a number of jetfoils, Catamarans and ferries available, run by TurboJet, First Ferry and the Cotai Strip CotaiJet™
