2010: A good year for Myanmar

The year 2010 marked a record high in foreign visitors for the Myanmar tourism industry.

An estimated 300,000 tourists visited the country, that caused a 30% increase from 2009. Nay Zin Latt, chairman, Myanmar Hoteliers Association, was quoted in eTurbo News as having said that one of the reasons why the tourism industry had a good year in 2010 was because of the introduction of arrival visas. The recent improvements in the political situation have also been considered a contributing factor to the increase in visitor arrivals.
