Asia primed to be top travel region

Abacus International has released a report that claims Asia will become the top travel region in the world by 2015.

With its strong standing in 2010, Asia is set to turn into the largest region in terms of air transport, travel destination, business travel, use of secondary revenue models and mobile usage. Robert Bailey, president and CEO, Abacus International, was quoted in eTurboNews as having said that Asia has well-weathered the storm of the past few years and emerged at an all-time high, well-poised to take over as the leading travel region.

Asia has recorded an increase in international arrivals by 13% compared to the global average of seven percent. The international traffic in the region currently accounts for 29.6% of the world’s total revenue and it is expected to grow to 33% by 2015, which would enable it to surpass US and Europe as the world’s largest air transport market.
