Biking it up

With growing awareness about the environment and saving our planet, more and more people are realising the value of biking. Cities such as Vienna or London even provide the rent-a-bike service, where you can rent a bike from one spot and return it in another part of the city.

According to a survey conducted by Askmen.com, as reported in Tourism-Review, the Canadian city of Montreal recently invested US$134-million in new biking trails. The city also has the first urban bike share infrastructure in north America.  The Brazilians, who have made a commitment to alternative transportation methods, have very good bike infrastructure in the city of Curitiba. The survey found that only 13% of citizens in Bogota own cars; the rest support bike traffic, while 32% of Copenhagen inhabitants ride to work regularly. In Amsterdam, that figure is up to 40%, with most people commuting on bikes.
