Expedia buys Mobiata

Expedia has confirmed it is buying mobile travel application developer Mobiata.

In the two years since it was established in 2008, Mobiata has developed a host of travel apps including FlightTrack, TripDeck and HotelPal, all of which have been bestsellers.

Mobile traffic currently accounts for roughly four per cent of all visitors to Expedia.com, with mobile bookings up nearly five times this year over 2009, according to a report in Travel Daily Middle East.
