Ferried away with green travel

Greentraveller.co.uk has launched an online ferry journey planner for foot passengers between the UK, Ireland and continental Europe. The planner includes information on public transport transfers to and from the ports, prices, sample itineraries, as well as direct links to book tickets, according to a report by TravelMole.

Richard Hammond, chief executive and founder of greentraveller.co.uk noted that travelling as a foot passenger on a traditional ferry service is one of the greenest ways to travel between the UK, Ireland and the continent. However, it was often difficult to find information on how public transport links in with the vast network of ferry services at home and overseas, he said.

The ferry journey planner makes it easier for travellers to conduct their trips through a route of ferries, trains and buses all throughout Europe, rather the more carbon-costly alternatives of driving or flying. It offers travellers a cheaper and more environmentally sound way to plan their trips.
