InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) signed three new Academies in China, namely Tianjin Vocational Institute, Guangzhou City Construction College and the Shenzhen Polytechnic.
The three colleges all have strong tourism and hospitality management programmes. IHG Greater China’s Human Resources Vice President, Winnie Ng, was quoted in AsiaTravelTips.com as having said that as an industry leader, IHG is responsible and committed to investing in and nurturing local talents. Ng added that this is not just for IHG but for the sustained and greater prosperity of the hospitality industry as a whole.
The first IHG Academy was established in 2006 in Shanghai, and has since them expanded across China. The Academies address the growing demand for talents in the hospitality industry. Each IHG Academy works with a local tourism college or vocational institution to offer theoretical session by university faculty members, industry lectures by senior IHG executives and hands-on internships. Over 5,000 graduates are produced by IHG Academies every year.
