Indonesia Sets Billion Dollar Tourism Budget

The Government of Indonesia announced that it is allocating US$23.3 billion to the economic development of the country’s eastern region.

 

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pangestu was quoted in the in a report in Travel Daily Asia as saying that 136 difference projects will be funded by the said budget, 28% of which will go to the tourism sector to fund infrastructure development in Indonesia’s underdeveloped areas.

 

Indonesia’s Tourism and Creative Economy is aiming for eight million visitors in 2012. To reach this target, Indonesia is set to promote the country to Australia, China and India.
