British passports are getting a makeover courtesy of the United Kingdom government. This project, costing around US$615-million, is designed to increase security, according to a report by e-Travel Blackboard.
The new safeguards include an extra photo, repositioning of holders details, two pages of intricate pictures of British landscapes and a new security chip containing holder's personal information hidden away inside the passport cover. The price of an adult passport has been increased by around US$8.50 to US$119 to pay for the upgrades.
These actions are being taken as counter-measures to stolen and forged paperwork.
