Grant 2005 - Mangrove Forest Converts to Eco-Museum, Palawan, Philippines

An innovative concept to convert a mangrove forest in Lipuun Point, Palawan, the Philippines into a living "eco-museum" is the recipient of the fourth PATA Foundation grant for 2005.  The mangroves are part of the Tabon Caves Development Project, which is primarily a cultural tourism and archaeological destination owned and managed by the National Museum.  The objective is to preserve the mangrove ecosystem in the area and construct a mini boardwalk, install signs and publish reading material to make locals and visitors aware of the importance of mangroves to the area.
