Grant 2005 - READ Ensures Nepalese Villagers are Well-Read, Nepal

The PATA Foundation is supporting the Rural Education and Development Group (READ), which is building a library in the village of Jumla, northwest Nepal.  READ has partnered with 32 rural villages on library projects since 1992, building and stocking the libraries and hiring and training librarians to ensure that the facilities generate enough income to be self-sustaining.  READ plans to build 250 libraries throughout Nepal.  Nearly 500,000 rural villagers in Nepal already have access to magazines, newspapers and books thanks to the work of READ.
