Who qualifies as a PTM Buyer?

All Buyer registration applications received at PATA are screened for approval by the PTM2017 Buyer Selection Committee. The qualifying process for Buyers is based on the following criteria:

  1. Experience in the tourist or travel business, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
  2. Decision maker or consultant, negotiator and influencer with high-level responsibilities.
  3. Purchase record in the Asia Pacific Region that shows continuous purchase of products or a strong intention to purchase.
  4. Buyers must attend all business appointments scheduled throughout the event (entire 2 days of business sessions).

*First-time travel agents that provide both inbound and outbound services should register as a Seller and select an appropriate package for floor space.*

PTM buyer registration packages

We have 3 categories for buyer registration: Package A, B and C

Primary Buyer Package A includes registration fees, economy class round-trip airfare to Macao or Hong Kong, four nights’ accommodation in single occupancy, complimentary airport transfers and sightseeing programmes (limited to ONE Buyer delegate per organisation).

Primary Buyer Package B includes registration fees, four nights’ accommodation in single occupancy, complimentary airport transfers and sightseeing programmes.

Primary Buyer Package C covers registration fees only.

Business Matching Process

Step 1 After the completion the registration process and settlement of payment, a seller will be given username and password to log in the pre-matched appointment system.
Step 2                 Appointment Request: A Seller can review the company profiles of the buyers in the PATA Pre-matched Appointment System.

  • For one set of appointments (30 appointments), the seller has a quota to select 40 requests.
  • For MicroEnterprise (14 appointments), seller has a quota to select 20 requests. 
Step 3                 Rejection Unwanted Requests: A seller allows rejecting 10 requests (maximum). It is strongly recommended that you fully utilise the rejection process to avoid unwanted appointments.
Step 4                 Appointment Matching: Requests from the buyers and sellers will be collected and processed which based upon three criteria: (i) mutual requests, (ii) buyer’s requests and (iii) seller’s requests.
Step 5                 Business Calendar (business appointment list) will be released by mid-August. Existing appointment CANNOT be changed after the Business Calendar release. 
Step 6               Available Slot: For sellers who want to fill in empty slots, an unmatched appointment, they can log in the PATA Pre-matched Appointment System to check for available buyers in particular time slots. Sellers need to communicate with buyers directly and if both parties agree, the appointments shall be noted manually by seller organisation.

Booth space is assigned on a first come, first-served basis on the geographic region of the seller companies. PATA reserves the right to make the final determination of all space assignments in the best interests of the trade show.

  • The undersigned hereby agrees to the conditions of acceptance of PATA Travel Mart as outlined in these registration materials and set forth in the promotional materials, and further agrees to abide by such additional rules and regulations of PATA Travel Mart as shall hereinafter be adopted.

    Terms and Conditions

    • Please complete sections A, A1 and A2. Please note that we are unable to process incomplete entries.
    • Participation of a spouse / guest is only limited to social events. He / She is not granted entry to the exhibition.
    • Any name changes should be made in writing. Requests received after September 1, 2017 will be processed on-site.
    • Cancellations must be made in writing and will be subject to cancellation charges and any bank fees. For cancellations received by August 15, 2017, a 20 percent cancellation charge will apply. Any cancellations received after this period will be subject to a 100 percent cancellation fee.

    Limitation of Liability

    It is agreed that neither PATA nor any of its officers, directors, members or employees shall have any liability or responsibility for any personal injury, property damage or loss suffered by a delegate or any of his / her family members or other persons attending the PATA Travel Mart with the delegate resulting from the action or inaction of any person other than an employee of PATA. In the event of, or likelihood of, any circumstance which may create an extraordinary risk of injury or damage, PATA shall have the right in its sole discretion, to determine the course of action to be followed in respect to PATA Travel Mart 2017. In the event that PATA cancels or limits the Mart for reasons of safety, neither PATA nor any of its officers, directors, members or employees shall have any liability or responsibility in connection with such cancellation or limitation and their failure to perform any further obligations shall not constitute a breach of contract on the part of PATA to hold such Mart. This Application for registration, when signed by the media delegate, shall serve as an agreement between PATA and the media delegate, and shall indicate that the above terms and conditions of this Media Registration Application have been read and understood by the media delegate. PATA reserves the right to consider as incomplete any Application for Registration submitted without company stamp and signature.

Destination

Macao SAR – located on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta in southern Guangdong Province, People’s Republic of China – adjoins the mainland city of Zhuhai and lies some 60 kilometres to the west of Hong Kong. Macao SAR comprises Macao Peninsula, Taipa and Coloane. Macao Peninsula is the hub of the territory and is connected to Taipa by three bridges. Several large international hotel resorts – with new supporting infrastructure – are located on the reclaimed land between Taipa and Coloane in the newly developed district known as Cotai.

The Portuguese arrived and settled in Macao SAR in the mid-sixteenth century and the city’s architecture, art, religion, traditions, food and community reflect the integration of Chinese, Portuguese and other western cultures. Macao became a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China on 20th December 1999 and exercises a high degree of autonomy under the principle of ‘one country, two systems’. The SAR is growing in size as more construction takes place on reclaimed land. The number and diversity of its attractions are also broadening year by year.

In 2005, The historic centre of Macao SAR was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a result of its unique historical and cultural landscape. Macao is currently positioning itself as the World Centre of Tourism and Leisure as it develops into a quality international tourist destination.

Dress Code

Business attire is the official dress code during PTM2017 business sessions. Dress code for evening social functions, unless otherwise specified within the programme, is smart casual attire or national costume.

Official Languages

The official languages in Macao are Cantonese Chinese and Portuguese. English is widely spoken and understood in the hotels and hospitality sector. Languages of other key tourist source markets such as Japan, Republic of Korea and Thailand may also be seen on tourist maps.

Time

Standard Time is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+8).

Religion

Most Chinese in Macao SAR are profoundly influenced by their own tradition and culture with Taoism and Confucianism playing influential roles. A minority of the popular are practising Buddhists and Christians.

Climate

Macao SAR has a humid subtropical climate, with average relative humidity between 75 and 90 percent. Similar to much of southern China, the seasonal climate is influenced by the monsoons with noticeable differences between summer and winter temperatures and humidity levels. The average annual temperature in Macao is 22.7 °C (72.9 °F). Autumn days in Macao are generally sunny and pleasantly warm with lower levels of humidity.

Currency

The Macao Pataca is the currency of Macao SAR. Notes come in denominations of MOP$10, MOP$20, MOP$100, MOP$500, MOP$1000. Coins come in denominations of MOP$1, MOP$2, MOP$5, MOP$10, MOP$20, MOP$50.

Telephone

The country code for Macao is +853. This country code, along with the area code, is required to call a telephone number in Macao SAR from another country.

Electricity

Standard electricity supply is 220 volts. If you travel to Macao SAR with an appliance that does not accept 220 Volts at 50 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter.

Visas

Delegates from Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam are required to apply for a valid Macao visa in advance through a Chinese embassy or consulate, please refer to the website of “Public Security Police Force” (http://www.fsm.gov.mo/psp/eng/psp_top5_3m.html) about the entry requirement to Macao, you would also visit this website (http://www.fsm.gov.mo/psp/eng/psp_top5_2_1.html) for information on visa and entry permit exemption as well as entry requirement.

The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region allows citizens of specific countries/territories to travel to Macao for tourism or business for periods up to 30 days without a visa.
