PATA Executive Board and Board Meeting 2018
Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) would like to invite all PATA Board and Committee members to attend the forthcoming PATA Executive Board and PATA Board Meeting, which will be held right after the PATA Travel Mart (PTM 2018).
This year, PTM 2018 will be held at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), Langkawi, Malaysia, from September 12-14. The PATA Board and Committee Meetings will be held at Langkawi International Convention Centre (LICC), from September 14-16. All registered PATA Board, Committee and Life members will be offered a complimentary badge to visit the entire PTM 2018.

Since the Langkawi International Convention Centre (LICC) is located at the Westin Langkawi Hotel, we recommend that the Board and Committee members to book their hotel accommodation at The Westin Langkawi to avoid taking transfers during the meeting.
Board Meeting Hotel
Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) will operate official transportation for arrival and departure between Langkawi International Airport (LGK) and the official hotels listed below. If you are not staying at these official hotels you are required to make your own transportation arrangements.

Arrival transfer service will be operated September 13-14 from Langkawi International Airport (LGK) to official hotels according to delegate’s flight details. Delegates are required to provide flight details to PATA at Tippawan@PATA.org. Delegates arrive September 11-12 will be able to join PTM2018 transfer.
Departure transfer service will be operated September 17-18 from Official hotels to Langkawi International Airport (LGK). All delegates are required to confirm pick up time at hospitality desk upon arrival at LICC. Delegates depart September 15-16 will be able to join PTM2018 transfer.
***Delegates arriving in Langkawi by ferry at the Jetty Point that requires transfer, please advise to Tippawan@PATA.org.
***Daily shuttle timetable will be available close to the event date. We encourage PATA Board meeting delegates to stay at The Westin Langkawi for their convenience. Otherwise, please consider these 4 hotels St. Regis, Adya, Bayview and De Baron since there will be an official shuttle provided during September 15-16 for the meetings at LICC.

LICC is 30 minutes away from MIEC (Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre), the venue for PATA Travel Mart 2018.
Langkawi, described as the ‘Isle of Legends’ and ‘Jewel of Kedah’, is one of the world’s great paradise island getaways. A magnet for international eco-tourism, Langkawi was designated a Global Geopark by UNESCO. It is home to numerous tourist attractions and luxury hotels, yet it also retains its ‘old Malaysia’ charm.
Langkawi is the main island in an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea situated off the coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Part of the Malaysian state of Kedah, it lies south of Thailand and east of Indonesian Sumatra.
By far the easiest way to travel to Langkawi is by air. Langkawi International Airport is a small but modern airport that lies in the west of the island, next to the sea with all necessary facilities, numerous car rental companies, tour agencies and restaurants.
Business attire is the official dress code during PTM2018 business sessions. Dress code for evening social functions, unless otherwise specified within the programme, is smart casual attire or national costume.
Standard Malay is the official language and is used in formal occasions. English is widely spoken and understood by the locals. Most natives speak a Langkawi variant of Kedah Malay with minorities speaking Chinese, Siamese and various Indian languages.
Standard Time is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+8).
Langkawi is predominately made up of Malays who are Muslims. There is, however, a small percentage of Buddhists, Hindus and Christians on the island and most religious holidays are celebrated.
Langkawi receives more than 2,400 mm. of rain annually and has a true dry season from December until February while March to November is a long raining season. September is the wettest month when it normally receives more than 500 mm.
Ringgit is the official currency, but some hotels and resorts do accept other notes or offer foreign exchange. The current exchange rate is around RM3.70 to USD. Kuah town and the airport is where you will find most of the banks and money-changers. Banks open daily from 09:30 to 15:30. On Thursdays, they are open from 09:30 to 12:00 and are closed on Saturdays.
The country code for Malaysia is +60, the area code for Langkawi is (04). This country code, along with the area code, is required to call a telephone number in Malaysia from another country.
Malaysia’s electricity follows the 240 volt 50-cycle system. The power socket use in Malaysia are of type G.
No visa is required for a stay of less than one month for nationals of all ASEAN countries except Myanmar.
All visitors must hold a passport valid for at least six (6) months.
