Head of Marketing, Visa in Australia & NZ
Caroline Dempsey began her marketing career at Nestle, where she worked in sales and marketing roles for seven years including running the companies flagship brand Nescafe Blend 43. On her partner being transferred to Asia, she spent two years working for public relations consultancies on regional accounts as diverse as Sheraton Hotels, Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics and BHP Steel. Returning to Australia, Caroline worked as an Account Director for Creative Sales, one of Australia’s leading below the line agency’s, progressing to the role of Client Service Director, working on clients including Pepsi Asia, Cerebos Foods and Kellogg. In 1999 Caroline was approached to join Telstra’s Consumer & Commercial division managing the implementation of their Olympic leverage programme to the eight million fixed line subscribers. In late 1999 she was promoted to the role of National General Manager, Commercial and Consumer Marketing running the divisions Olympics and Communications group across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and managing a marketing and communications budget in excess of AUD 100 million. Following senior marketing roles at start-up Myprice and AOL Australia, she set up Firepower Marketing, providing strategic marketing & brand consultancy services to companies including NRMA Motoring + Services and Australian Rehab Works. In March 2008 Caroline returned to a corporate role as Marketing & Communications Director for Visa’s Australia & New Zealand Strategic Innovations team. In June of 2010 she led the marketing and communications streams for the launch of a new online payment service – payclick by Visa.
