Singapore, October 14, 2015 – Ctrip, China’s largest OTA, has gone live with the integration of BeMyGuest’s API for Asian activities and tours. This is the first Asian activities and tours API to be fully integrated into Ctrip’s website and mobile app.
Ctrip’s customers will be able to access BeMyGuest’s more than 10,000-strong inventory in over 600 destinations across Asia inclusive of attractions, day tours, activities, private tours and local experiences — currently the largest database of Asian activities and tours globally.
All the travel activities and tours are available for immediate booking and the integration features electronic delivery of vouchers and e-tickets.
“The API integration is in line with Ctrip’s expansion into activities and tours. TTD (Things To Do) has seen peaks of 10,000 bookings per day since its launch in mid-2014,” said Pan Fei, CEO of Integrated Business of Things To Do and Activities.
Over 60% of all Ctrip’s bookings in 2014 were made on a mobile device. Ctrip introduced WeChat payments and mobile Wi-Fi access with the most complete global coverage to outbound Chinese tourists in the same year, which has over 30% market share.
“Our API is multi-platform enabled and offers dynamic pricing as well as geo-location targeting. It is available in English and Mandarin, with other Asian languages to be rolled out in 2016. Customer service support is available 365 days a year,” said Clement Wong, CEO at BeMyGuest.
China is the world’s largest outbound market since 2012 with a total expenditure of US$ 129 billion in 2013. The total number of trips abroad from China is estimated to have increased by 11 million to 109 million in 2014. – UNWTO.
China’s outbound tourism in 2015 is forecasted to reach 124 million trips – China Tourism Academy.
The growth of outbound Chinese tourism has given rise to a new trend of “tourism diplomacy” in Southeast Asia. For example, Indonesia introduced visa-free entry for Chinese tourists in June 2015, while Thailand will introduce a multiple-entry visa for Chinese tourists, effective from October 2015 and pending cabinet approval.
According to the China Outbound Tourism Insight Report 2014, the most popular short-distance destinations were in East Asia and Southeast Asia: Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Bangkok.
Repeat visitors prefer travel activities that are less mainstream. The broad range of travel activities and experiences offered by BeMyGuest is a good fit for this segment.
