The Heritage of the Great Silk Road (2-Day Self-Paying Tour):
Extend your stay in Kazakhstan for two extra days and plunge into its culture and history. Highlights include an English language tour of Shymkent city, Ak-Mechet cave, the medieval town of Otrar, Arystan Bab Mausoleum, and the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan city. Almaty – Wonderful City of Apples (2-Day Self-Paying Tour):
Known as ‘the city of apples,’ Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan that served as its capital from 1936 to 1997. This is just the start of what participants will learn about the history and attractions of this Southern Capital!
Highlights include the Shymbulak ski resort, Kok Tobe mountain, the outdoor Medeo sports complex (where the world’s largest high-altitude ice rink is located), and a bird show at the Sunkar Falcon Centre, where critically endangered birds of prey are bred and released into the wild. US $392 includes a 1-night stay in a 4-star hotel, meals, a domestic flight to Almaty, ground transportation, entrance tickets, and an English/Chinese language tour guide.
Silk Road Tour (4-Day Self-Paying Tour):
Situated along the historic Silk Road, Central Asia played an important role in connecting Europe, Middle-East, and Asia along the ancient trade route. This four-day tour explores areas of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to uncover how centuries of cultural interactions have impacted the destinations in their modern day renditions.
Beginning in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, participants will spend a day visiting local notable landmarks before travelling by train to the city of Samarkand to see its classical wonders. Immediately follows is a day in southern Kazakhstan’s Shymkent city, before experiencing the ghost town of Otrar and the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan. US $642 per person includes three nights of accommodations, meals, partial transportation, and a tour guide.
Cycling Tour on Assy Plateau (2-Day Self-Paying Tour):
This tour will travel by bicycle along the ancient Assy Plateau, Bartogai Lake, and Saty Village to immerse in picturesque sites characterised by yurts, herds of domesticated animals, and rock paintings.
Covering a total cycling distance of 65 km and camping overnight in the field, between 5-18 participants can be expected on this itinerary. Starting at US $183 per person includes ground transportation, equipment rental, national park fees, and English/Russian guide, while upgrades and prepared meals are extra.
Charyn Canyon, Kolsay, and Kayindy Lakes (2-Day Self-Paying Tour):
The breathtaking Charyn Canyon is a natural monument dating back 12 million years located about 215 km east of Almaty. The nearby Kolsay and Kayindy Lakes were formed by landslides after the 1911 Kebin earthquake; they are known for being some of Kazakhstan’s most beautiful sites. In addition to exploring these natural wonders, participants will also enjoy an overnight stay in Saty Village and explore the Valley of Castles on this tour. US $208 per person includes one night of accommodations, ground transportation, some meals, and an English/Russian tour guide.
