Conservation Manager, Scuba Junkie SEAS
David McCann is the Conservation Manager for Scuba Junkie SEAS, the environmental arm of award-winning dive operator Scuba Junkie – an operator that firmly believes their environmental ethos is the major factor behind their success. David hails from Ireland, where he gained his BSc (Hons) Marine Biology and MSc Environmental Management at QUB, followed by international experience in conservation. He has over 5,000 dives and his current work covers six core areas: shark, coral and turtle conservation, tackling marine debris, supporter engagement and eco-friendly resort. Scuba Junkie was awarded Dive Operator of the Year 2017 by BlueGreen360 and is ranked #2 worldwide by GreenFins for their commitment to sustainable dive tourism and conservation. David is a passionate advocate for the dive industry’s role in marine conservation. He believes that divers are lucky to experience the joy and beauty of the underwater world and with that joy comes a responsibility to protect and conserve. It is not just a moral responsibility to promote marine conservation and help ensure healthy, productive oceans for local communities who rely on them.
