I am delighted to send you greetings on World Tourism Day from the delightful city of Auckland – venue for tomorrow’s PATA/ATEED Tourism Leaders Forum and for our annual PATA Global Insights Conference (PGIC) on Friday 29th.
I am looking forward with considerable anticipation to hearing the views of New Zealand’s tourism industry leaders on a wide range of relevant issues at tomorrow’s Forum.
On Friday we welcome to PGIC many distinguished and experienced international speakers and presenters addressing topics under the conference heading ‘R U Future Ready?’. We also look forward to welcoming students from Auckland University of Technology who, as tomorrow’s tourism industry leaders, will share their views on how our industry will be shaped in 2025 and beyond.
Wherever you are celebrating World Tourism Day, let us focus our minds once again on the importance of sustainable and responsible development. Let us reinforce our efforts to ensure that the UNWTO Sustainable Development Goals are delivered; that our industry makes a real contribution to the alleviation of poverty and the support of local communities, and that tourism continues to transcend international difficulties and tensions by uniting peoples of different faiths, colours and nationalities in a spirit of harmony and friendship.
I wish you all a very enjoyable World Tourism Day.
Till next time,
Chief Executive Officer
