The PATA human capital development strategy is a direct fit with PATA’s ‘Next Gen’ mindset to enrich and sustain the Association and is highly complementary to the Association’s three-pillar activities of events, advocacy, and research and insights. It is pragmatic and visionary for managing the present, facilitating positive business investment, and capitalising on future opportunities within the region. HCD is a relevant value proposition to all PATA members from all sectors of the organisation. It aims to enhance opportunities for local communities (at all levels) in order to share the benefits of tourism amongst all stakeholders, and be an effective method of engaging the tourism workforce in local and global tourism related issues beyond the every-day tasks of employment. As one of the essential elements of PATA Next Gen, HCD serves as linkage from academic to industry platforms for students and young professionals.
