Head of Tourism, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), New Zealand
For over 25 years, Jason Hill has held a variety of roles within the tourism industry across the Asia Pacific region. Currently, Jason is Head of Tourism at Auckland Tourism, Event and Economic Development (ATEED), New Zealand. At ATEED, Jason is responsible for the international and domestic marketing of Auckland as a visitor destination, as well as new product development and destination management.
Previously, Jason was based in Tokyo where he worked for Tourism New Zealand for over five years implementing the 100% PURE NEW ZEALAND global marketing campaign to Japanese and Korean markets. Jason is fluent in Japanese and during his time in Tokyo was a regular advisor to the Japanese government and travel industry.
Other roles from his varied career include: five years as General Manager for Marketing at Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism; elected Chairman of the Association of National Tourism Organisations (ANTOR) representing over 50 national tourism offices across the Asia region; Jason has recently stepped down after three years on the Cruise New Zealand board; currently, Jason is a trustee of New Zealand’s Te Araroa Trail – a 3002km walkway stretching the length of the country.
