Director of Conservation Activities, Anantara Resorts and Spas Worldwide
Growing up in rural Devon hardly prepared John for his current career except perhaps to instil a love of green spaces and ecosystems in him.
A degree in engineering probably didn’t help either except to keep him inside for so long that he had to escape to open the open spaces of US & Australian National Parks.
Since 1999 however he has been working in the jungles of Asia with elephants more or less by his side or in his binoculars, a five year stint in Chitwan National Park, Nepal set him up for a move to Thailand’s Golden Triangle where he has been ever since – initially running an elephant camp (which he still does from time to time) & latterly running the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation and acting as Director of Conservation Activities for Anantara Resorts and Spas worldwide.
He lives in a solar powered house in Chiang Rai with his wife & son.
