The Executive Summary report for PATA’s highly anticipated Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts 2019-2023 has just been released to the PATA Store.

China is expected to continue its rapid growth of arrivals to destinations within Asia Pacific with an average increase of 6.9% per annum between 2018 and 2023. With this growth, the Chinese markets are predicted to generate almost 175 million arrivals by end of 2023, an increase of close to 50 million additional arrivals over the next five years.

The top five fastest growing destinations by AAGR show significant double-digit increases ranging from a little under 17% to almost 22%. Despite their small volumes, Chinese arrivals to Lao PDR and Papua New Guinea are expected to grow strongly at 21.7% and 21.6% respectively.

These are some of the key highlights of the latest edition of the Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts covering the period of 2019 to 2023.

PATA’s Asia Pacific Forecasts provide reliable predictions of arrivals, visitor receipts, and departures across the Asia Pacific region. This is a powerful tool to help destinations effectively develop strategies that maintain a competitive edge.

Driven by the proprietary travel forecasting model of the Forecasting Unit of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, this annual forecast allows tourism industry stakeholders to review the industry’s performance and consider the prospects for the coming year and beyond.
