Business Development Director, Pegu Travels

Founder, Go-Myanmar.com

Marcus Allender is the co-founder of British-Myanmar joint venture DMC Pegu Travels and the founder of Go-Myanmar.com, the country’s most popular travel website. Marcus has lived in Yangon since 2012 and has since then built extensive industry contacts and developed an intimate knowledge of the local tourism landscape, from its challenges to the huge opportunities it presents.

Myanmar is the largest and most scenically varied country in mainland Southeast Asia and Marcus has travelled to every state and division in the union, from the tourist hotspots to the most far-flung tribal regions.

A former marketing and PR professional who loves experiencing new cultures, Marcus has lived in Kunming, China and worked in the UK and across Europe for The Economist magazine. Marcus is well travelled throughout Southeast Asia; it was during his time in Kunming in 2010 that he first travelled to Myanmar, and was captured by the beauty of the country, the richness of its culture and the friendliness of its people.
