Mekong Tourism takes MIST startup winners on the road to ITB Asia in Singapore on Friday October 18

SINGAPORE, October 15, 2019 – After a successful Travel Startups Asia Forum featuring the final 2019 Mekong Innovative Startups in Tourism pitching competition in Bangkok, just one week later the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office has partnered with Messe Berlin to organize the Travel Startups Asia Forum @ ITB Asia on October 18th at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The event is free to attend for anybody attending ITB Asia.

The Travel Startups Asia Forum at ITB Asia features the MIST 2019 winner and runner up in the Travel Tech Category, Golf Digg from Thailand and Loca from Laos respectively, as well successful online travel agency startup FlyMya from Myanmar. 

MIST, managed by the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office and supported by the Australian Government and Asian Development Bank. was set up three years ago to help integrate Greater Mekong Subregion travel startups into the global travel and tourism ecosystem, promote innovation, and help local firms thrive in the globally competitive tourism industry.

Jens Thraenhart, Executive Director of the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office said: “By partnering with ITB Asia, we are able to further give exposure to our successful Mekong innovative startups in tourism to develop sustainable tourism in the Mekong Region.”

The Travel Startups Asia Forum also discusses the state of travel startups in Asia, as well Travel Startup Ecosystems MIST (Mekong Innovative Startups in Tourism) and Travel Lab Asia, a partnership between the Asian Development Bank, Pacific Asia Travel Association, and Plug and Play.
