New PATA Philippines Chapter Board of Trustees inducted

The new Board of Trustees of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Philippines Chapter was recently inducted into office by Tourism Undersecretary Benito Bengzon, Jr. They are: Chairman-Bob Zozobrado (LPU); Head, Membership-Simon Ang (Let’s Celebrate Travel); Head, Education-Ma. Paz Alberto (Ark Travel); Head, Programs-Onelle Verzosa (Hotel Celeste); PRO, Government-Arnie Bayag (Travel Experts); PRO, Travel Trade-Isabel Garcia (Henann Group of Hotels); Treasurer-Marlene Insigne (Southeast Travel); Legal Counsel-Atty. Jun Anota (Sining at Kultura Foundation); and Head, Ways and Means-Teody Espallardo (Huma Island Resort and Spa). Ma. Corazon Jorda-Apo is the Department of Tourism’s representative to the Board.

The Induction coincided with the association’s First Business Assembly for this year. Another highlight of the lunchtime event was the induction of the new members of PATA Philippines by Chairman Zozobrado. They are: Baron Travel, Cebu Pacific, Delta Airlines-ITI, Enderun Colleges, Far Eastern University, GMB Lasam Travel, Hotel Luna, Novotel, Panda Travel, and Pan Pacific Travel.

The event, which has the theme “Inspiration and Empowerment” also featured Motivational Speaker Mithi Aquino-Thomas, wife of former US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry Thomas, and Engr. Aisa Mijeno, the lady who impressed US President Barack Obama, during the recent APEC Conference, with her in invention of salt water light bulbs.

PATA, which is headquartered in Bangkok, is the biggest travel organization in the world and the Philippine Chapter is the only international travel organization in the country.   Its main goal is to be the catalyst for responsible development of the Travel and Tourism Industry to, from and within the country, and the Asia-Pacific region.
