A new conference announced by the Pacific Asia Travel Association is set to give a major boost to tourism in Auckland. The city plays host on 16 October to the inaugural PATA Global Insights Conference. The programme for this one-day event focuses upon the key factors that will influence and shape tourism in the future.

The conference has been embraced by Auckland Airport, ATEED and Skycity, all of whom are excited to be involved in bringing this leading edge platform to Auckland. A city now recognized and poised to become one of the new world cities of the future.

PATA’s Regional Director – Pacific Chris Flynn says that the challenge for tourism destinations and businesses alike is to have a better understanding and appreciation of the tourism landscape moving forward. The dynamic line-up of thought leaders, representing some of the world’s largest global tourism brands and influencers, will present and discuss key aspects of ‘change’ and how this will impact and affect the industry in the years to come. Moderated by BBC World, we expect these session to insightful and fluid.

The conference is being backed by the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand and TIA Chief Executive Chris Roberts welcomes the wealth of new information that will be delivered by an impressive lineup of international experts and panelists. “A key goal of the Tourism 2025 growth framework is to achieve better outcomes by making better decisions based on quality data and informed insight,” he said recently.

In terms of timing and relevance, the significance of this event can’t be understated. It’s designed as a window into the future. A glimpse into the way the industry will move and adapt, says Flynn. The critical aspect of the programme will ensure the PATA Global Insights Conference will bring new thinking to New Zealand in line with the goals and objectives of the 2025 tourism plan.
