PATA Japan Chapter’s successful 55th anniversary reception

TOKYO, February 16, 2017 — Having established in 1962, PATA Japan Chapter has been making contributions to the travel and tourism industry in Japan and beyond for more than five decades. To celebrate the 55th anniversary, the commemorating ceremony was successfully held at Palace Hotel Tokyo on February 16, 2017.

In addition to Chapter’s current core members, special guests who remarkably contributed to PATA in the past around 1980 – 2000 were also joined. Among them, Mr Hitoshi Kawai who worked for PATA Asia Division in Singapore in the 1980s made a speech focusing on the PATA’s role and its valuable presence in the travel industry. Furthermore, the photo slide presentation looking back past 55 years was projected during the reception.

As a main event of the reception, the award ceremony for the long-term membership with 55 years was conducted and 7 members, such as JTB, KNT, Tobu Toptours, Imperial Hotel, Fujiya Hotel, Royal Hotel and Japan Hotel Association, were awarded.

PATA Japan Chapter is still actively involving the major travel industry players while organising the many events such as seminars and lunch meeting at regular basis with a strong chapter network.

Incidentally, Ms Sarah Mathews, Head of Destination Marketing APAC as well as an Incoming Chairperson of PATA joined the reception and gave the congratulatory address.
