About China’s Guizhou province

Guizhou is an inland province located in Southwestern China with a population of over 12 million.

The terrain is 97 percent mountainous and only three percent flat river valleys. It is one of the most beautiful provinces in China, offering spectacular plateau landscapes cut by dramatic gorges, canyons, and terraced hillsides with enchanting vistas.

Guizhou is famous for its splendid ethnic cultures and abundant natural resources. It boasts the third largest ethnic population in China with people from 49 recognized ethnic groups making up 38 percent of the province’s population. Among them, there are 17 indigenous ethnic groups who continue their ancient ways of life and time-honored traditions.
