BAGUIO CITY, February 23, 2019 – On February 23, 2019 an event entitled as “1st National Tourism and Hospitality Students Skills Olympics” (NTHSSO) was conducted at the University of Baguio, Cardinals Gymnasium. Before the program began the orientation for each adviser was held at Café Fernando whereas the organizing committee discussed the rules, regulations, venues, time of each competition which are going to be conducted.
The event started at around 7:00 AM where the participants had their registration at Campo Manes. The program proper commenced at 8:00 AM led by the Master of Ceremonies, Mrs. Angelica Cabuang and Mr. Shawn Micheal Barila. The welcome remarks were given by our VP of Academic Affairs Janice K. Lonogan, who enthusiastically welcomed each and every one who were at the Gymnasium, the participants, the delegates and the students of the University of Baguio School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management. Followed by an inspiring message from the Pacific Asia Travel Association- Young Tourism Professionals Ambassador, Ms. Jie Cheng Wong.
The event was formally opened through the launching of the NTHSSO participant banners initiated by our ever dynamic Dean, Mrs. Jennelyn M. Magpatoc along with the faculty and staff. Guest speaker and VIPs.
A graceful intermission number was presented by the SANGLAW Dance company and Korean foreign students which highly entertained everyone. The Oath of Sportsmanship was given by the newly elected Travel Club-PATA UBaguio Student Chapter, Ms. Angelika Gerone Mendoza.
The competitions finally started, some of the said competitions were the Convention Planning, Virtual Tour Guiding,Tour Package Proposal, Flight Attendant Showmanship, Front Office Services and others. At around 5:00PM , all of the events were successfully conducted therefore, the students were gathered once again in the Cardinals Gymnasium for the awarding ceremony whereas the Over-all Champion was the Lyceum of the Philippines. The closing remarks were given by the event chairman, Ms. Jessel Joy G. Rufin to formally close the successful 1st National Tourism Hospitality Students Skills Olympics.
