BAGUIO CITY, September, 24-26, 2018 – Theme: “Tourism and the Digital Transformation”

Narrative Report:

The National Department of Tourism (NDT) had been celebrating September as Tourism Month.

It aims to raise the profile of tourism in the public eye and to show the general public how tourism affects not only the economic values of country or region but also how it affects the social, political and cultural values of a said country or region.

The UNWTO suggest the following activities to serve as a guidance for countries in celebrating the day, competition in terms of ESSAYS, PAINTINGS, VIDEOS on tourism and SUSTAINABLE TOURISM are done in a fun and simple way to get involved in World Tourism Day.

The objectives of the Tourism Week is to provide opportunities for the students to put into practice the theories learned inside the classroom, inculcate in the students the tourism impacts and sustainability concerns through identification of visible examples incorporated in the different events in the Culminating Activity. Also, to develop the creativity and resourcefulness of tourism students in conceptualizing their Tourism Development Plans, and enhance their event planning skills.  Tourism Month Celebration foster camaraderie among the BSTM, BSTM-IT, DTTO, BSHRM, BSHM, DFBO and DCACO.

The Tourism week is composed of different events and competitions such as Flight Attendant Showmanship, Photography, Quiz Bee, and Virtual Tour Guiding.
