CHILE, August 9, 2019 – Samadhi Eco Resort is the first resort in Chile to achieve EarthCheck Bronze Benchmarked and first in Chile to join Pack for a Purpose!

Founded in 2018, Samadhi Eco Resort is a low impact eco-tourism project in Chile, by two life-long best friends with a passion for being environmentally sustainable and goal to be fully self-sufficient.

“We are motivated to live sustainably, and achieving EarthCheck Bronze Benchmarked showcases our dedication and drive to make it a reality. EarthCheck has the guidance and resources to support our initiatives, and we are very proud to be a part of them,” Co-owner of Samadhi Eco Resort, Adnan Reguieg said.

In another first, Samadhi Eco Resort is the only organisation in Chile to join Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows guests to take supplies, requested by a local community project, and leave them at the front desk. Samadhi Eco Resort encourages their guests to make informed decisions that have a positive impact on the local community at their destination – that little extra space in a suitcase can make a world of difference in the lives of local children.

“The thing is, it’s not just about us. It’s about life, the future for all children, and living in peace.  You cannot do that without respect – respect for others and respect for all that is around you,” Samadhi Eco Resort Co-owner, Philippe Desruelles confirmed.

Samadhi Eco Resort strives to provide staff and guests with an appreciation of genuine eco-tourism experiences by offering activities that contribute to the wellbeing and conservation of the natural areas and local communities in Chile. Volunteers from the resort, can often be found in the local community helping out at local schools. In addition, students can visit the resort to learn about organic farming, and the limitless possibilities of what is achievable when you put your mind to something!

Stewart Moore, CEO of EarthCheck, said that Samadhi Eco Resort is leading the way in sustainability within South America.

“I would like to congratulate the dedicated team at Samadhi Eco Resort which is the foremost advocate in the region and a valued member of a global group of tourism enterprises that dare to make a difference,” Mr. Moore said.

“By working with EarthCheck, Samadhi Eco Resort joins industry leaders who are making positive changes to reduce their environmental and social impact and taking meaningful steps towards resolving some of the very real issues that face the planet.”

Dr. Samantha Reguieg, Senior Management at Samadhi Eco Resort said that the resort embodies what it means to be sustainable and it is through EarthCheck that they are able to incorporate methods that allow constant improvement.

“Throughout this sustainable journey, EarthCheck has been my lifeline while constructing all the policies, procedures and trainings for Samadhi. EarthCheck’s constant support and resources are phenomenal, and we truly would never have been at this point – nor this level – without them” Dr. Reguieg said.

“We are super excited to continue with the certification process, as it fully supports our passion to constantly learn and better ourselves.”
