PATA CEO Festive

More and more people every year travel to do business, see their family members as well as friends, and to explore the wonders of the diverse cultures we have in this world. Tourism is growing globally to the benefit of all of us working in this sector. However, some areas get more of their share of tourists than they probably wish for and others get much less. We at PATA hope and dream of a future where the public and private sectors will join hands and encourage the dispersement of

tourists to spread the wealth it may bring to communities in need. We have hope of a peaceful world where we will be able to wander freely without artificial barriers such as complicated visa procedures. We also hope of a world where travel is used as a means for peace and for people to discover and embrace new cultures and make friends of any faith.

Every now and then our industry is challenged by nature, man-made, or simply uncontrollable situations that affect the lives of many. In the recent past, four of our member nations have had their fair share of challenges in 2014: the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Nepal. Our thoughts and our prayers are with them and we wish all of them stability and a speedy recovery in 2015.

On behalf of all PATA staff and the Executive Board, we would like to thank all of our members, chapter members and industry friends for your support throughout 2014.

It has been a busy year for PATA, filled with challenges, opportunities and changes. Our Organisation is at a turning point and, thanks to you, we will be going into the New Year with strength, to build on our accomplishments.

The holiday season is a time of reflection on our past year’s activities and achievements. It is also a time to look forward and to think of what we want our Organisation to be remembered for in a year’s time.

But most importantly, it is the time of the year when we realise the importance of our family members and how precious our time with them is.

I would like to wish you all and your family a Happy Holiday Season, health, joy and prosperity for the year to come!
