Seminar “The Industrial Revolution 4.0: Importance of Technology and Innovation in Tourism” was successfully organized under the collaboration between PATA Vietnam Chapter (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism) and ASEAN-Japan Centre on 04 September 2018 at Hilton Hanoi Opera, Vietnam.
The fourth industrial revolution was the digital revolution characterized by a fusion of technologies that was blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. The revolution was predicted to bring about big changes, not only opportunities but challenges as well to all industries, including tourism.
The application of information technology had been considered as the inevitable trend to create a breakthrough of Viet Nam tourism, to enhance national competitiveness and business development. In recent years, both public and private stakeholders of the sector had actively supported information technology projects.
Sharing the view of focusing on information technology with Japan, one of the leading countries in this field, Viet Nam tourism expects to learn precious lessons from Japan’s success. The seminar brought real-life scenarios of tourism development in Japan and Vietnam. With this seminar, we aimed to promote the “Spirit of Industrial Revolution 4.0” in all aspects of Viet Nam tourism.
The seminar attracted 99 participants from travel companies, tourism institutions, and media representatives.
