Through a selection of four complimentary tours curated and hosted by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, the upcoming PATA Annual Summit 2020 offers delegates the opportunity to explore the host city Ras Al Khaimah and its surroundings, while contributing to the sustainable growth, value and quality of tourism.
Tour 1: Suwaidi Pearls Farm – Discover the historical and cultural journey of the region’s pearling industry
Take a fascinating trip to the yesteryears, to a time when pearling was once the pillar of the country’s economy.
Considered the world’s first Arabian pearl farmer, Abdullah Al Suwaidi set up the region’s first cultured pearl farm in 2005 on the very waters that had produced the finest Arabian pearls coveted by royals, nobles and celebrities in distant lands.
This tour takes you on a visit to the pearl farm to discover the historical and cultural journey of the region’s pearling industry and the legacy that led it to become the one of the world’s most sought after gems. The farm is located in the small fishing village of Al Rams, nestled at the bottom of the majestic Al Hajar mountain range in Ras Al Khaimah.
Tour 2: Jebel Jais Flight – Fly across the world’s longest zip line
If you’re an adrenaline junkie, this tour is a must!
You will be fitted with a special harness and travel at the speed of up to 120kph to 150kph at a height of 1,680 metres above sea level from top of Jebel Jais mountain, the highest mountain in the UAE.
The longest flight takes approximately two to three minutes. Once completed, you will finish the bucket list flight on a suspended landing platform where you will be transferred to a second line to complete your journey back to the ground.

Tour 3: Jais Sky Tour – Explore Ras Al Khaimah with a bird’s-eye view

Explore Ras Al Khaimah’s natural landscapes from a bird’s eye view as you fly from platform to platform through a series of 7 ziplines, over Jebel Jais’s awe-inspiring cliffs, canyons and towering Haja mountains, covering a total distance of five kilometers.
Navigate your way through the sky averaging speeds of 60 kilometers per hour and find yourself at the UAE’s highest sky bridge, at 1,250 meters above sea level. Pause to take photos then walk across the length of a 15-meter bridge to continue the last part of your zipline journey.
Tour 4: City Tour – Time travel through the ancient sites
With over 7,000 years of history, Ras Al Khaimah boasts a large number of fascinating cultural sites. In this route, you will visit some of the cultural heritage highlights, including:
- Dhayah Fort, the only remaining fort built on a hill with a unique geographical location
- The National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah, which houses archaeological and ethnological artifacts such as documents, manuscripts and treaties between the rulers of Ras Al Khaimah and the UK Government, as well as traditional weapons and discoveries from the earliest settlers to the late Islamic period
- Mohammed Bin Salim Mosque, an ancient mosque with a long history dating back to the 18th century
- Al Suwaidi Pearl Farm, the first pearl farm in the Gulf region with the long history of pearling industry in the region
