Are you struggling to establish, run, or improve a local business in the tourism sector within Southeast Asia? Is your work closely connected to the success of such businesses?
Perhaps the ILO C-BED toolkit can lend a helping hand.
Developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with ASEAN, this toolkit aims to support entrepreneurs across the sub-region to improve and upgrade specific small and medium business in a number of tourism areas using the Community-Based Enterprise Development approach, aka C-BED.
The C-BED initiative is a low cost, innovative training programme designed to support skills development and empowerment in local communities for improvements in livelihoods, productivity and working conditions.
Based on a trainer-less, peer-to-peer approach, the programme requires only few resources. It is thus flexible, easy-to-use, yet highly effective.
The toolkit is available in English and local languages in Bahasa (Indonesian), Khmer, Burmese, Lao, and Vietnamese and tailored for the following sub-sectors:
- Destination Management
- Aspiring Entrepreneurs in Tourism
- Handicraft Makers
- Smallholder Farms
- Market Vendors
- Homestay Owners
- Guesthouse Owners
- Restaurants/Food Vendors
- Transportation Management
