Operations Director, Secret Compass, UK

Tom is responsible for the operations, logistics and execution of Secret Compass expeditions and projects. A fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, he has been leading expeditions in remote, challenging and hostile environments for over 15 years and has travelled to over 85 countries. Secret Compass runs pioneering team expeditions and customised projects in the world’s wildest places. Expeditions include trekking in Afghanistan, climbing mountains in Iraq, crossing desserts in Iran, or paddling past wildlife in the jungles of Gabon. Secret Compass organises expeditions, not sightseeing tours. Expeditions have a defined aim that provides a clear focus for the team to work together to achieve. The expeditions are team-centred, flexible and dynamic. Teams are managed on the ground by Secret Compass staff: industry-leading professionals and guides of the highest calibre. They put the structure in place for your team to have an incredible experience while achieving your expedition’s aims. Tom has served in the British Army where was responsible for leading Combat Camera Teams to areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Tom is also a professional photographer and film producer. His last expedition was leading the pioneering Secret Compass trip to North Korea.
