March 2, 2016 – TripAdvisor is committed to helping travelers choose a great destination for their trip. To give its users the tools and resources they need to make informed decisions about where to go, TripAdvisor today announced the redesign of its destination pages and the launch of a new advertising offering called a Premium Destination Partnership that allows DMOs to complement these pages with customized content.
This new Premium Destination Partnership advertising opportunity is available to all DMOs worldwide. Those that choose to participate gain access to a self-service management center that allows them publish the following types of content:
- Collections – Thematic lists of hotels, restaurants and attractions in the destination which are curated by the DMO partner.
- Articles – Posts that offer an engaging way for partners to provide useful travel information for potential visitors.
- Events – A module that gives travelers insights and information about upcoming events within the destination.
For the first time, travelers can view teasers of these Collections, Articles and Events on the new destination pages and click through to a dedicated page to read more.
This new partner-supplied content complements the user-generated content and booking tools already available on TripAdvisor’s destination pages.
Premium Destination Partners will receive enhanced reporting capabilities via a redesigned dashboard that will showcase the engagement level and overall performance of all content across all pages and points of sale on TripAdvisor, as well as the campaign’s impact on tourism to their destination.
The new destination pages and Premium Destination Partnership opportunity will not only enhance the travel planning and booking experience for TripAdvisor users, but will also drive more exposure for TripAdvisor’s DMO partners on the site.

TripAdvisor Announces the Hire of Jonathan Howlett in the Newly Created Role of Vice President of Global Destination Marketing
TripAdvisor today announced the hire of Jonathan Howlett in a newly created role of Vice President of Global Destination Marketing. He will oversee a team focused on developing the business with destination marketing organizations around the world.
Howlett joins TripAdvisor from comScore, the global leader in digital media analytics, where he led a team in London tasked with growing its business helping clients measure their online and mobile advertising effectiveness.
Prior to this role Howlett was Global Director of Advertising Sales for BBC World News building a global team and overseeing the launch of advertising on BBC.com. At the BBC, he grew travel to be the largest revenue sector supported by initiatives such as developing the weekly travel show Fast track.
Jonathan is based in London. He is a graduate of the AMP program at Harvard Business School and holds a master’s degree in marketing from Lancaster University in the UK.
