SINGAPORE, March 3, 2016 – TripAdvisor®, the world’s largest travel site*, today announced the launch of two new sites in Traditional Chinese and English – tripadvisor.com.hk and en.tripadvisor.com.hk. Both sites have been rolled out with instant booking so travellers will not only be able to consume reviews and other travel content in their preferred language, but also conveniently book a hotel on desktop and mobile web, without leaving the TripAdvisor site. This capability will be rolled out to mobile app shortly.
The Traditional Chinese domain, which features TripAdvisor’s Chinese brand name, Mao Tu Ying (貓途鷹), is also a further effort by the company to provide the global Chinese community with a unique, trusted and more relevant planning and booking experience for their travels.
“We want TripAdvisor to be the most convenient place for travellers in Hong Kong to research their travel, compare prices and then book,” said Aaron Hung, Director of Partnerships, Asia Pacific. “Hong Kong residents made over 85 million trips overseas last year1, so we’re pleased to offer more localised content that will not only help them better plan their trips but also help them make their bookings instantly.”
TripAdvisor currently operates across 48 markets worldwide and in 28 languages. Its international Arabic language domain (ar.tripadvisor.com) and the two Hong Kong domains are the latest to have joined the ranks.
TripAdvisor continues to roll out its instant booking capability globally and has most recently expanded throughout Asia Pacific to Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Australia and New Zealand.
TripAdvisor’s partnership with the Priceline Group, which was announced in October 2015, as well as the subsequent integration of Booking.com inventory to the instant booking platform helped to accelerate its expansion due to the online travel agency’s extensive global property listings, localised content and quality customer care. The company is working to integrate inventory from its other valued instant booking partners so that their supply is available to book on the platform in the near future.
TripAdvisor now works with 8 out of the top 10 hotel brands in the world and these respected suppliers have joined a growing list of more than 70 hotel chains, groups and online travel agency (OTA) partners that will power bookings on the platform. Its instant booking partners include Accor, Langham Hospitality, Best Western International, Carlson Rezidor, Choice Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, La Quinta Inns & Suites, Mandarin Oriental, Marriott International, Priceline Group, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Wyndham Worldwide.
Hotels available through TripAdvisor’s instant booking platform feature a prominent “Book Now” button, allowing users to easily complete their reservation with any property available on TripAdvisor.
