Meet Our Talented Interns!

We’ve had the pleasure to welcome new staff who joined us as Intern Associates and helped us through the last quarter of 2022. Get to know them and their experience at PATA!

Dahyun Hwang - Youth Intern

Hello everyone! My name is Dahyun Hwang, and I am a Youth team intern at PATA. I am studying Tourism Management at the University and working as an undergraduate researcher. This research experience about sustainable tourism, especially social sustainability, interested me in PATA.

As part of the Youth team, I am making an effort to create a better tourism industry and a sustainable tourism atmosphere for future tourism leaders with Nick, the Youth Ambassador, and the other PATA family. With this great opportunity to work at PATA, I believe that I can foster personal growth as a tourism professional, building a network with tourism industry leaders and PATA Youth members. I hope my experience can lead to making a better future tourism environment, like a butterfly's tiny flapping.

Hong Anh Nguyen - SIC Intern

As a fresh graduate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from RMIT University Vietnam, I have always been intrigued by distinct tourism topics and trends and developed a fervent passion for tourism research and planning. Besides my projects during the coursework and extracurricular activities at the university, I have also gained experience from research competitions (e.g. UNWTO Student League 2021, HKPU Undergraduate Student Research Competition 2022) as well as my internship in the Institute for Tourism Development Research of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT). Setting the goal to gain a deeper understanding of contemporary and future tourism as well as reinforce my research capability and soft skills, I have been learning a lot and progressively attaining them through the practical work experience and lessons learned from not only the SIC team but also members from other departments.

Huishi Lyu (Stella) - Marketing intern

My name is Lyu Huishi, or you can call me Stella. I am a master’s student studying at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (POLYU), majoring in International Tourism and Convention Management. At the same time, I am also the Event Officer of the PATA Hong Kong SHTM Student Chapter. Before that, I was the chairman of the executive committee of the PATA Macao SAR Student Chapter. My experience in the student chapter has given me the opportunity to plan a variety of different events.

Before becoming an intern in PATA's marketing department, I also worked as an intern in the marketing and communication department of a five-star hotel in Macao, China, focusing on social media operations and assisting in organising events.

Working in PATA's marketing department has allowed me to interact and work with people from different regions and cultures worldwide, honing my communication and teamwork skills and deepening my knowledge and understanding of the global tourism industry.

Seoyoung Park (Esther) - Membership Intern

Hi everyone! My name is Seoyoung Park, but I go by Esther. Currently, I am majoring in tourism at Hanyang University in Korea (ROK). However, I lived in Thailand for almost my whole life. Thailand is known as “The Land of Smiles” and is famous for its destinations. For these reasons, I love to travel, enjoy learning about new cultures, appreciate meeting new people, and value building connections around the world. I am also interested in tourism developments that deal with people’s happiness from leisure activities and improving people’s quality of life through sustainable tourism.

The experiences that I am having with PATA are very meaningful because I always dreamed of working in an international tourism organization as a child. As a membership department associate, I got to interact with PATA members and gained an understanding of how the tourism industry works. I have learned many valuable insights from tourism professionals and got to meet various people from different countries through joining PATA Events. I am very grateful to be able to work as an associate of the membership department at PATA.
