PANEL DISCUSSION ON ‘SCOPE OF POTENTIAL CAREER IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY AFTER THE PANDEMIC’

Bangalore, India, December 3rd, 2021 ~ We are all aware that networking is essential in any industry, whether it is for a student or a professional. Networking allows people to interact with one another and aids in future connections, communication, more career aspects, confidence building, and exploration of various other fields. This panel discussion centred on the post- pandemic impact and how the travel industry recovered from such a major setback.

PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter hosted a Round Table Youth Conclave on the scope of a potential post-pandemic career in the tourism industry. The conference took place virtually. The discussion was very interesting and interactive, and there was also active participation from the audience. The panelists were very informative and answered all of the audience's questions clearly. Participants from other student chapters, such as the PATA Philippines LPU-Manila Student Chapter and the PATA UAE Higher Colleges of Technology Student Chapter, attended the conference. The panelists elaborated on a variety of topics, including aviation (covered by Janvi Kunku), technology (covered by Amy Jugran), and accommodations (covered by Mary Grace Kindica).

Following the pandemic, a continued shift toward ecotourism—a rapidly growing industry- focused on conservation and local job creation—could provide a boost to the industry. This is already a significant component of Costa Rica's tourism strategy. Thailand is also making an effort to diversify into niche markets such as adventure travel and health and wellness tours.

Technology has the potential to make a significant contribution. With social segregation and health and hygiene protocols likely to persist for the foreseeable future, touchless service delivery and investments in digital technology could serve as a bridge to recovery.

Despite the fact that the travel industry was the hardest hit by this pandemic, its recovery rate has been consistent. People are becoming more interested in learning more about travel and tourism, and they are making more travel plans with their family and friends.
