Bookings for Singapore Grand Prix Up 4% YoY, Led by East Asian Travellers and Families

Singapore, 26 August 2025 –With the world’s original Formula 1® night race set to light up Marina Bay from 3–5 October 2025, Sojern’s latest travel insights reveal how global fans are planning their trips to the Lion City and who’s leading the race to book.

Key Trends at a Glance:

  • Bookings Rev Up Early: Flight bookings for the F1 2025 race week began climbing in early June (9th)—116 days ahead of lights out—with volumes now tracking 4% higher year-on-year at the same lead time. If booking behaviour mirrors last year’s pattern, around one quarter of travellers will have secured flights more than three months before race week, roughly half will lock in during the 15-60 day window, and only about one in four will wait until the final fortnight—leaving plenty of opportunity for late-stage marketing.

  • East Asia in Pole Position: While Australia (18.7% total booking volume) remains the top origin market, South Korea (12.2%) has surged past the UK (7.8%) into second place, with China (11.4%) and Taiwan (6.8%) both breaking into the top five. Together, short-haul East Asian markets now dominate demand.

  • Long-Haul Takes a Back Seat: The US, UK, and Japan have slipped in the rankings, hinting at a softer long-haul appetite this year, with slower booking momentum from Europe, the Middle East (EMEA comprises 12.7% of total bookings), and North America (5.5% of total bookings, including Canada) compared to last year.

  • When They’re Arriving: APAC travellers favour flying in on 2 October, the day before the race. EMEA fans prefer arriving 2–3 days ahead, while North Americans touch down as early as a week prior. This aligns with Singapore Tourism Board’s ongoing push to encourage visitors to extend their stays and explore the city beyond events, showcasing Singapore’s dining, culture, and leisure experiences alongside the racing action.

  • Race Weekend = Short Break: Nearly 75% of visitors plan to stay 2–7 days (up from 72% last year), with most departures peaking the Monday after the event (6 October). Longer stays are more common among EMEA, US and Canadian travellers than APAC visitors.

  • From Solo to Squad: Solo travellers still lead but have dropped from 57% to 49% of race-week arrivals, replaced by a rise in family travel (up to 19% versus 12.5% in 2024) and a steady 32% share for couples.

“Singapore’s Grand Prix remains a major draw for regional travellers, with short-haul East Asian markets powering demand in 2025,” said Lina Ang, Managing Director, International Property Sales at Sojern. “The early surge in bookings highlights the race’s appeal as both a sporting spectacle and a short-break getaway.

For DMOs and hospitality brands, this is the moment to stay visible, leveraging traveller intent data, AI-driven targeting, and multichannel campaigns to maximise spend during race week and keep Singapore top of mind long after the chequered flag falls.”
