Nepal Tourism Update

as of Aug 31, 2026, issued by PATA Nepal Chapter

Currently Disrupted

The Langtang, Rasuwa and Bhote Koshi corridor is closed. Travel there is not possible. The Galchhi–Syabrubesi road is closed.

Search and rescue is active, and authorities have warned of further flooding from a barrier lake upstream.

The Everest and Annapurna regions are outside the affected river system and were not in the flood path. PATA Nepal Chapter will confirm operating conditions in the affected region in subsequent updates as the situation stabilises.

  • Overland Kathmandu–Pokhara & Kathmandu–Chitwan movement

  • Tribhuvan International Airport and all domestic airports

  • Kathmandu Valley — hotels, restaurants and heritage sites

  • Everest and Khumbu region, including Lukla flights

  • Chitwan and Bardiya

  • Lumbini and the Terai

The Nepal Tourism Board is issuing numbered Situation Updates on the Bhote Koshi flood, including verification of travellers’ whereabouts and safety: ntb.gov.np/en/latest-travel-updates. Verified casualty figures are issued by Nepal Police and the NDRRMA.

Bahrain:

  • Gulf Air has restored its global flight network to 75% of its pre-conflict capacity. Passengers with confirmed bookings up to June 30 are eligible for one complimentary rebooking, valid until March 31, 2027. Conde Nast Traveller (Jul 12)

Iran:

  • Iran announces partial re-opening of airspace, allowing eastern route transits. Conde Nast Traveller (Jul 20)

Israel:

  • KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announces resumption of flights starting on August 25 between Amsterdam and Tel Aviv. Flights are available for booking as of August 6. KLM (Aug 10)

Japan:

  • Japan Airlines keeps suspension of Tokyo-Doha flights until "it is confirmed that sufficient safety measures are ensured under the current situation in the Middle East." Conde Nast (Aug 31)

Jordan:

  • Lufthansa resumes daily flights from Frankfurt to Amman, Jordan on October 25. Lufthansa (Sep 7)

Singapore:

  • Singapore Airlines has announced a suspended extension of its Singapore-Dubai to October 24. Reuters (Aug 31)

The UAE:

  • Emirates has issued an unlimited date change policy. The practice remains valid across all fares. Additionally, the airlines has reduced refund fees on its flights to Dubai. Conde Nast Traveller (Aug 12)

  • Etihad extends flight select services commencement after its brief pause last August 21. The airlines will accommodate booking changes up until March 31, 2027 with no additional fee.

    Additionally, Flydubai cancels flights to several destinations including Doha, Erbil, Hargeisa, Mahe, Entebbe and Asmara. Passengers are advised to keep checking their flight status as regional destinations such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain continue to face sudden schedule changes. Conde Nast (Aug 24)

  • Air Arabia cancels multiple flights and services to Kuwait and Bahrain. Travellers are advised to check individual booking and flight status before going to the airport.

    Additionally, Finnair extends its Dubai flight suspension significantly, shifting the return date from October 24 to March 27, 2027. Gulf News (Aug 31)

  • Air France announces suspension of flights in and out of Dubai until September 8, with possibility of extension.

    Additionally, Etihad flights announce delays in routes to Europe, Asia and other West Asia Destinations. Gulf News (Sep 7)

US:

  • United Airlines announces resumption of Newark to Tel-Aviv flights, starting on September 9, 2026.

Canada

Air Canada has extended its suspension of all flights to Tel Aviv and Dubai until mid-January 2027, pushing back the previously planned October 2026 resumption.
