About the Balidian Town in Huzhou, China

Balidian Town is located in the core area of the eastern new city of Wuxing District, Huzhou, Zhejiang, China. The town has green mountains and rivers, convenient transportation, and rich cultural tourism resources such as sericulture, ancient villages, farming, and the World Rural Tourism Town. In order to maximise the values of the nature resources the town owns - and as the saying goes ‘lucid waters and lush mountains are the most invaluable assets’ - Balidian Town puts its focuses on the strategies to vitalise rural destinations for promoting the development of rural tourism industry. 

In recent years, Balidian Town has actively explored the integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism, achieving remarkable results in this sector. It orderly carries out the protective development of ancient villages and cultural sites such as Lucun village, and the Qianshanyang Scenic Area, amongst many others. Thus, the inheritance and utilisation of intangible cultural heritages have been further strengthened.

Nonetheless, the Master Bonsai Garden, Enmei Saltwater Ornamental Fish, Modern Agricultural Exhibition Hall and other constructions of the batch have been promoted as a whole. The construction of agricultural tourism demonstration projects has further consolidated the foundation of the rural tourism industry; expanded innovative tourism routes such as plowing and moving along the mountain and silk traceability. It successfully held eight bowls, silk culture festival, rapeseed flower festival, and fishing festival, alongside other festive activities. The awareness of Balidian’s reputation for rural tourism has increased significantly, attracting tourists from as far as Shanghai and its surrounding areas.

The World Rural Tourism Town is located in the Lucun Village of Balidian Town. It is a provincial-level tourist characteristic town and is one of the major projects in Wuxing District and the permanent site of the World Rural Tourism Conference. From September 24-26 this year, the World Rural Tourism Conference will be held in the town. At that time, the eyes of the whole world will focus on this place, and the brand of ‘the world's first town for rural tourism and the first choice for international conferences and vacations’ will be further launched. Today, Balidian Town, with its strong ecological advantages and tourism industry resources, is glowing with unprecedented vitality.
