Meet Our New Interns of Q1 2026!

We have had the pleasure of welcoming new team members who joined us as Intern Associates and have been helping us support our objectives throughout the first quarter of 2026. We invite you to get to know them and their experience at PATA!

Bei Yi Shen - Youth Intern

Ni hao! Greetings from China! My name is Musky Shen, and I’m currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in International Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology. Outside the classroom, I run an English debate and public speaking institute for young people in the Greater Bay Area, where I design programmes that help students use communication to understand the world and tell their own stories with confidence. These experiences have deepened my interest in how tourism, education, and culture can work together to create meaningful journeys for both travellers and local communities. I’m thrilled to join PATA and learn from professionals who are shaping the future of travel in the Asia Pacific. Through this internship, I hope to gain hands-on experience in research and youth engagement, contribute to projects that promote more sustainable and inclusive tourism, and bring a young educator’s perspective to the team. I’m excited to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds, learn from everyone, and grow into someone who can connect industry, youth, and communities through tourism.

Gulmok Simbolon - Sustainability Intern

Horas! Warm greetings from Indonesia. My name is Gumok Simbolon (Fio), A travel and culture enthusiast from Sumatra Island. I recently graduated from the University of Surrey in England with a Master’s degree in International Tourism Management. For the last couple of years, I have completed several exciting research and community service projects in Indonesia. These projects are mainly focused on sustainable tourism and development. I just know that tourism is a beautiful way to connect with people, culture, nature, and arts, and doing it responsibly is the only acceptable way.

Moving forward, I will focus particularly, but not exclusively on the social aspect of tourism sustainability. I believe that tourism is a great way to lift communities and celebrate diverse cultures. Joining PATA is not a random decision; it’s the best way to gain invaluable experience, meet interesting people, and eventually dive deeper into the meaningful tourism development in Pacific Asia and the world.

Throughout my studies, I developed a strong commitment to advancing the tourism industry through the lens of ethics and sustainability.
