As the world is slowly starting to reopen, the youths are also on the move to prepare for themselves for the changes and continue to impact the industry. For May and June 2021, we hand-picked some updates to share from the PATA Youth community.

Winnow, a tech company that builds AI tools to help chefs run more profitable and sustainable kitchens, found that relative levels of food waste would, on average, rise by 50% during the first month of reopening. Following analysis of kitchens from all over the world, their two-part guides offer insights and practical tips for the hospitality sector to minimize waste as the world reopens.

Tourism is meant for everyone to freely explore the world, but this has only begun to shift from idealism to reality about 50 years ago. In celebration of pride month, PATA is highlighting IGLTA’s effort in helping the LGBTQ+ community eliminate barriers in travelling, as well as their longstanding collaboration with PATA to bring changes into the Asia Pacific region.

UNWTO is inviting public and private stakeholders from around the world to take part in a Global Survey of Climate Action in Tourism and help identify frontrunning initiatives and opportunities to accelerate climate action in tourism.
