“AI for Tourism & Hospitality Excellence” Workshop Kicks Off in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, 20 November 2025 - The Human Capital Development (HCD) Workshop on “AI for Tourism & Hospitality Excellence” kicked off on 17 th November in Kathmandu with the participation of 60 professionals from Nepal’s tourism and hospitality industry. The two-day workshop, jointly organized by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is being held at Hotel Yak and Yeti in the capital city, Kathmandu, Nepal.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Khem Lakai, Chairperson of PATA Nepal Chapter, who underscored the importance of enhancing digital skills and AI competency among Nepal’s tourism workforce to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Delivering the inaugural remarks, Mr. Dipak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, outlined the importance of AI for tourism marketing and tourism growth strategies, encouraged all participants to take full advantage of the workshop by engaging actively with the instructor, interacting openly, and applying the insights gained to their professional practices.
The opening session was moderated by Mr. Suresh Singh Budal, CEO of PATA Nepal Chapter, who facilitated the proceedings and set the tone for an interactive and insightful learning experience.
Led by Prof. Faye Hao, Assistant Professor at the School of Hotel & Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the workshop will cover core AI foundations, AI models and agents, ethical considerations, and practical applications of AI across hotels, resorts, airlines, destination management, and MICE operations.
With strong participation from the Nepali travel trade, the workshop aims to elevate professional capabilities, inspire innovation, and support Nepal’s journey toward a smarter and more resilient tourism sector.
