New Research Reveals Travelers Are Two Years Ahead of the Travel Industry on AI

Trip planning is changing quickly, and travelers aren’t waiting for the industry to catch up. They’re already using AI to compare destinations, build itineraries, find experiences and narrow down where they want to go – often before they ever visit a destination website.

New research from MMGY Travel Intelligence, Mindtrip, Sabre and Sojern found that 75% of travelers intend to use AI for future trip planning. At the same time, only 26% of destination organizations have a documented AI strategy.

That gap matters. If AI increasingly shapes which destinations make a traveler’s short list, organizations need to understand whether their information can be easily found, trusted and recommended. The AI Readiness Report explores how travelers are using these tools, where the industry stands today and what destination leaders can do to prepare for what comes next.
