PATA Thailand Chapter applauds Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's "Peace Through Tourism" trip to South Thailand

04 March 2024 – The PATA Thailand Chapter would like to express its strong appreciation and support for Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's "Peace Through Tourism" trip to South Thailand between Feb 27-29, 2024. We fully endorse the policy objectives of the trip to use peace-building, multi-cultural inclusivity and people-to- people contacts as a means of settling conflicts, driving economic growth, creating jobs and crafting a better future for the young generation.

All these objectives are in line with the Vision and Mission of the Pacific Asia Travel Association.

The PM's trip has opened up a clear window of opportunity for positioning Thailand as the world's first "Alliance of Civilisations" destination. In an era of increasing socio-cultural-ethnic tensions, it is imperative for the Travel & Tourism industry in the entire PATA region to prioritise zero-conflict and convert our rich culture and heritage into a force for building peace and harmony.

The PATA Thailand Chapter pledges to help the Prime Minister, the Minister of Tourism and Sports Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol and Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Mrs Thapanee Kiatphaibool in following up the goals and objectives with concrete action.
